The opening of School Year 2021-2022 ushered in another brand-new start for both students and teachers as education in the Philippines entered its second year in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. But just before classes opened on September 13, 2021, the Schools Division of Parañaque, through the leadership of the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Evangeline P. Ladines, CESO V announced changes in the leadership of several public schools and one of them is Sto. Niño Senior High School.
On September 1, 2021, the Division Office conducted the Virtual Turn-Over Ceremony for the Assignment and Reassignment of School Heads via the Zoom platform. It was a formal program of a series of relinquishing of authority by the outgoing School Head and assumption of authority by the incoming School Head. By late afternoon, Sir Ruel A. Grafil was called over by the host to announce the relinquishing of his authority as Officer-in-Charge Principal of Sto. Niño Senior High School and formally turned it over to Sir Jaime O. Sarmiento Jr. who eventually assumed and accepted the authority and leadership.
Sir Grafil and Sir Sarmiento are not new to each other. Both of them hailed from Parañaque National High School-Main. Both of them rose from the ranks of teachers in the same Department, Araling Panlipunan. Both of them passed the NQESH Principal’s Test at the same time. For sure, both of them are well-equipped to be School Heads in their designated schools. They indeed knew each other.
In his farewell speech, Sir Grafil recalled the days and times when he started out as Assistant to the Principal in 2018, of how he learned to love his work and the people in the school. He expressed his profound gratitude for the shared life and work in school. Sir Sarmiento accepted the leadership in school with determination and firmness having gained experience in school management as Assistant Principal in PNHS-Main.
Both of them are men of dignity and integrity, both of them are men of leadership and management. Both of them men of principle and morals. For Sir Grafil, it was a fruitful three years spent. For Sir Sarmiento, a new horizon that beckons success and achievement! God be with you, Sirs!
